Many Kavadi bearers were in the procession. "The Kavadi contains rice, milk or other articles that the devotee has vowed to offer the Lord. They sometimes travel on foot begging from door to door. Villagers offer their articles directly into the basket of the Kavadi. When the baskets are full or the avowed quantity is reached, the Kavadi is offered to the Lord. The people who place the articles in the baskets also receive the Lord’s blessings."
